Pet Travel Rules: Flying & Crossing Borders With Your Dog
CDC rules (in effect since August 1, 2024) apply to all dogs entering the U.S., including U.S. dogs returning from a trip. Requirements include that the dog appear healthy, be at least 6 months old, have an ISO-compatible microchip, and arrive with a CDC Dog Import Form receipt; extra rabies paperwork applies depending on the countries the dog was in (CDC). Rules change; check CDC's tool before every trip.
